DIPLOMACY AND GEOPOLITICS IN CYBERSPACE

A former British diplomat, I specialise in developing innovative approaches to diplomacy and geopolitics for both governments and companies. These innovative approaches are offered both through training and consultancy. In the 21st century geopolitical rivalry affects every aspect of human activity. The context of geopolitical conflict is driven by new technologies. I bring the geopolitics together with the new technologies to help clients navigate a complex and uncertain world.

I am currently Director of the Chair for Diplomacy and Cyberspace of the European Institute of International Studies, a Senior Consultant for both UNDP and UNITAR on public, digital and cyber diplomacy and a Senior Fellow of the Charhar Institute in Beijing. I served for 16 years as a British diplomat in the UN in New York, Beijing and Madrid, as well as in the Counter-Terrorist and Yugoslav Depts of the Foreign Office in London. My books include "The New Diplomacy" (2005), "Adios a la Diplomacia" (2005), "Cyberdiplomacy: Managing Security and Governance Online" (2019) and "The Geopolitics of Cyberspace" (2019).
